After hosting the Commonwealth youth games (CYG) in Pune last year India are now gearing up for the big one, The Commonwealth Games 2010.But the question that arises is whether India is actually ready for it.

CYG which was actually a test run for the mega event in the capital saw controversies and unseen harms. So do you think the major one is going to be successful? Will India be able to flawlessly organize such a multi-national crowd gathering even? Let’s find out !

The +ve side:

Yes India is ready. Some examples that makes it sure are-

  1. Delhi METRO – Yes the dream has come true. India’s second Metro in the capital territory. And the METRO has been a huge success. METRO provides cheap communication and that too at the luxury of an AC. The work of metro is going on very fast. The projects being completed in time.. infact before time too. Thanks Government for this
  2. Flyovers- The progress is pretty fast. You can see new flyovers made now and then and this is making the traffic smoother.
  3. Development in general – India has actually developed a bit, if not as per expectations of many, but still that’s a good progress. Compare Delhi before the announcement of Common Wealth to be held and now. Being a Delhitie, I feel, if not India, Delhi has developed..

Hmm, its not over yet :D .. Everything has two sides, lets look at the second side of the coin-

The -ve side :

No India isn’t ready for commonwealth as yet.

  1. Poor quality construction – If you take out a newspaper at random, you may find news about metro pillars being falling, flyovers being broken. Some flyovers are not even in condition to survive during rainy season. Poor quality of construction and also, lack of checks of material used is leading to it.. Are you listening government?
  2. Controversies – Controversies are not far away. You may find a regular fight over on or the other thing that is being made or is made. It’s time for us to grow up and look what actually is good for India.
  3. Government needs time – Yes, our government needs time to complete the projects. Although some of them are pretty fast, others take a lot of time to even get passed. What do we want to show to the people who’ll come.. Our inability to co operate.. eh ??

I tried to show you both sides of the coin. Although as you can see, everyone has a opinion. I tried to mention both, although the list maybe endless. Do post your comments on what do you think and which side you are on
